Adventures in Baby Sitting ....

I was asked to keep an eye on my two year old cousin this weekend although I was very tired I managed to keep one eye on her.

This little girl was too energetic and loud, so very loud. She babbled off her list of demands and I had the hardest time figuring out what it was she was demanding. She went straight for my controller and when I didn’t give it to her she started to throw a tantrum. Wild crazy throw yourself on the floor tantrum.

I was able to distract her by crinkling up a plastic bag; the noise the bag made startled her at first and I braced myself for more screaming but then out of the blue she started to laugh – I found this so weird but kept doing it.

When she wasn’t crying she was laughing her head off at the silliest of things from the crinkle of a plastic bag then to keep her entertained I pretended to be a monster and chased her around the house we only stopped when I tripped and fell flat on the floor. The best part of spending time with my little cousin was that you couldn’t possibly stay mad at her for too long.

You can already see this little girl knows how to wrap you around her little finger she has such a kind heart and limitless amounts of personality.

There was a special moment we shared while she was eating a cookie she was willing to share it with me the cookie was soaked in drool and I didn’t dare say no to her generous offer as it only ended up in my mouth and smeared across my face.

I feel like we can all learn something from babies they are filled with unconditional love and innocence. They show us that we shouldn’t keep scores of when our loved ones do or don’t do something and we should stop taking yourself so seriously and that we should laugh even at the stupidest and most random of things and sometimes it’s okay to have a meltdown and throw a tantrum.
