About four of my friends and I were
walking home after midnight on Friday we usually meet up to play games and hang out. We
were all laughing, joking and play fighting basically being boys and minding
our own business when out of nowhere flashing lights came on and the “whir whir”
of police sirens could be heard. About two police cars blew past us.
We were slightly confused when one
of the police cars pulled over and a burly Police Officer came out. He looked
to be 7ft and 300 lbs – I laughed to myself thinking “imagine him trying to catch
us if we all decided to bolt”
Even though he was huge he didn’t intimidate
us but we were a bit nervous anyone who listens or watches the news knows about
the whole racial profiling in the United States and of black men being killed
in cold blood by the police.
We were polite to the Police Officer
as he approached us asking where we were coming from as it was late. We explained
to him that we usually hang out on Firday nights to play games and as we all
are from the same neighbourhood we were trying to make it home.
We then asked the Police Officer
what all the commotion was about he only walked away and said “you gentleman walk
straight home”.
I wanted to say “punk that’s where
we were headed before you stopped us”
Why is it that adults in authority
feel like they don’t have to answer to kids?
Did you ever find out what all the commotion was about?
